your Sanctuary offers safe emergency accommodation to women and children who are unable to remain in their home due to domestic abuse. We operate two refuges in Surrey.
Each family will have a dedicated key worker who will provide support in a variety of ways, including:
- One to one meetings
- Support groups (including the Freedom Programme)
- Referral to other agencies
Families usually stay with us for up to 6 months, which gives both the women and their children time to start the recovery process and time to take part in our full support programme. We work with our clients to empower them so that they can move on to leading independent and fulfilling lives.
We have a Children’s service that provides dedicated support for children and young people. Our Children’s service works in a therapeutic way offering play, one to one and mother and child support sessions and practical help accessing schools and other support in the community.
If we are unable to offer space to a woman, we will access the national network of refuges and endeavour to find suitable accommodation. Similarly, although our refuges cannot accommodate men, we may be able to find refuge space specifically for male survivors.
Referral to our refuges is via our Helpline (01483 776822) during normal working hours.
