Support for children who have been affected by Domestic Abuse

Children that have experienced Domestic Abuse are often left frightened, confused and vulnerable. Your Sanctuary gives them a safe space in which to recover from their trauma. Our Children's Service is offered to families in our safe houses and to those engaged within our Community Based Outreach Service.

Our children’s workers provide support for children in the community, through therapeutic one to one sessions often run at school with the child.

Referrals for our one to one support can only be done internally when the parent is already engaging with our adult outreach service. We do not accept external referrals at this time.

We also deliver a therapeutic group programme for children as well as a joint programme for mothers and children concurrently. We accept external referrals for this programme where the referral criteria is dependent on demand.

As an outcome, children that have been through our programme, feel safer, are empowered and perhaps most important of all understand that the abuse that took place was not their fault.

Refuge Service

Safe accommodation for women and their children who are fleeing from Domestic Abuse

We have two Safe Houses (Refuges) in North-West Surrey for women and children fleeing from Domestic Abuse. We can accommodate up to thirteen families at any one time.

Women are expected to stay with us for 6 months. During this time they will receive both emotional and practical support from our staff. This is delivered on a one to one and group basis.

We have access to the national refuge database, Routes to Support and can search for vacancies daily. If we are unable to offer you refuge space in either of our safe houses, we will provide you with numbers for other services that have vacancies.

To enquire about refuge space, please call our Helpline on 01483 776822.
